Material Developments In Spring Production And The Use Of Elgiloy In Industrial Springs

Discussed by Chris Petts, M.D of Lee Spring Ltd

What lies ahead in the realm of spring manufacture – well amongst others we at Lee Spring are constantly refining our designs and have recently introduced our ranges of Lite Pressure™ and Bantam™ Mini Springs, along with LeeP™ Plastic Composite Springs. In particular though, it is often the choice of material which gives us most thought for the future as it shows the way forward in spring technology.

Technical Partnership Based On Trusted Values

For Seco Tools the significant results from the installation of a Wogaard Coolant Saver on the company’s Technical Centre 5-axis machining centre led to the units being installed across all of the production machine tools and the formation of an engineering partnership between the two businesses.

Initially installed, using the Wogaard fitting kit, on a DMG Mori DMU 85 Monoblock 5-axis machining centre that provides Seco Tools with the ability to demonstrate its range and the high performance capability of its cutting tool solutions, as well as support specific project work undertaken for customers in the aerospace, motorsport, medical, marine, power generation and general precision engineering sectors.

Improving Operations With Spraymist Coolant System

By changing from a secondary operation using conventional twist drills following pre-turning when producing 3.2 mm diameter through coolant feed holes by 145 mm deep in M2 tool steel, a UK tooling manufacturer has adopted gundrilling as part of an integrated machining cycle on a Mazak J-200 Integrex Multi-Tasking turn-mill centre.
